Since Weesa.net has many English speaking readers, we have decided to publish some English poetry done by our Afghans. The first of this series is the nice poem sent to us by Mariam.

Oh my brothers arise ! arise !
Open up your sleeping eyes !

How long must we bow ?
The time for unity is now !

Freedom can no longer wait
And the brave never hesitate!

We must now take a stand
And reclaim what is our land !

Live up to your Pashtun name
Or leave this world full of shame!

A man who is truly brave
Cannot live life as a slave
